The Obamination
There's a lot going on -- many facets to this stunning political event. This odd man, Barack Obama, seemed to materialize out of nowhere representing a unique mix of race, religion, and ethnicity, come to represent the new cyber-connected global community. The idea that a guy by the name of Barack Hussein Obama, a guy with deeper colored skin than what is normally placed on the skeleton of the leader of the western world, could be the president of the United States is pretty much unbelievable. The joyous reaction worldwide is an indication that he really is a leader for all of us, not just this country. The first one, I feel, for the modern time. The 21st Century and the First
Global Representative
It's a different world we live in now. Previously, humans fought one another on an earth that seemed to be abundant into eternity. But now the earth herself has become the adversary encouraging a planetary effort to think about cooperating and together saving our precious resources; working in tandem with natural cycles. Man against nature, or with, as it will have to be.
Obama's message of unity could be the symbol of what is required to solve our earth's problems now. The oil situation is certainly going to affect geo-political affairs as is water supply. His man of the worldness is a symbol of the cross cultural exchange that has reached grand proportions. He's a good one to facilitate communication and understanding. He speaks a universal language. But he's the end result of a long series of events and is merely filling a slot. I speculate that his best accomplishment so far has been his role as agent in awakening the collective to it's need for active participation in government, while Pluto goes on to the advanced 4th quadrant and the end of the Age of Pisces.
I always wondered what I was doing here since I stubbornly refused to get online for years and years.
But it captured me.
I think the blogosphere has been part of a preparation as the Uranus-Neptune mutual reception forged new pathways in the universal mind through the use of the Internet. The community was created in the last years and then came the community organizer. We're ready.

I live in Chicago so I'm well versed in IL politics. Obama took the issue of videotaping interrogations and was able to find people on the other side, convince them that such a "liberal" idea was really in the best interests of law and order. He listened, he respected, and he was able to enact a serious piece of progressive legislation. That's what he does -- he did it with the Lugar/Obama Non-Proliferation bill -- the only progressive piece of national security legislation to make it through Congress and get Bush's signature.
The last I heard a transportation union guy on the Ed Schultz radio program telling a similar story of getting transportation legislation through the IL Congress. You have no idea how contentious that is every single year. But Obama listened to the "other side", got to know guys like this union guy (who had enthusiastically supported Barack's opponent for the IL Senate), and marshalled the funding bill through. You really have no idea how difficult that is in IL. It was a remarkable achievement.

The interrogation bill was opposed by all the Republicans at first and from what I understand, it passed unanimously.
Obama finds shared values and forms coalitions. He has said publically that he disagrees with definitions of bipartisanship that have meant compromises which sell out policies and move people to the right.

An interesting article.
Here, jm, an article commenting on Obama's aikido skills... :), J

Juno I love it!! Thanx!
I've been studying this carefully being an Aries rising with Pluto transiting square my Mars now. His confidence and technique impress me continually. I think it's partly his Mars in Virgo which is not aggressive and he seems to use the spiritual aspect of Virgo.
No one knows what to do with him. They can't play his game and they didn't see it coming. Pretty dumb. Glad they aren't in line for the big leadership spot!
As for offense, here is his approach. While they are all flailing and attacking like cavemen (no offense to Cro-Magnons), he just met with Evangelical Conservative leaders, knowing full well he'll get their votes. It's funny to see how all the others are left out until further evolution comes their way. What a joy.
aikido, in which the practitioner concentrates on redirecting the opponent's energy to use against him. Soft techniques tend to be more subtle than hard ones, and require more time to achieve proficiency...Yet a martial artist schooled in the soft arts doesn't fear being attacked, he welcomes it. In his decisions, his rhetoric, and his attitude, Obama doesn't display fear. Republican attacks only reinforce his central argument
This has to be one of the most satisfying aspects so far. I've really been relishing how he deftly turns their own attack energy back to them. They don't know how to handle this! Their rigidity hasn't prepared them for this at all.
Have you a take on his birthtime? The 2 suggested ones - 13.06 and 17.11 - have little in the way of back-up, so that leaves us free to speculate!
I'm currently going for 16.11, late Sag Rising, which gives a load of stuff that works. Particularly a prominent Libra (MC), my starting point. Sun in the 8th, he comes from the shadow side of the USA, and will continue to address uncomfortable issues. 1st House Saturn in Cap - he is so sure footed and determined.
Perhaps most importantly, his chart needs to catch the upcoming Uranus-Pluto square, which MC at 9 Libra satisfies. Take a look at Bill Clinton, Bush Snr and Uranus-Neptune: they both caught the conjunction. Presidents catch the astrological zeitgeist.
As I say, 16.11 is speculative: but it's got more substance to it than the other charts doing the rounds.
What's your synastry with him, there is clearly a connection there!
This has to be one of the most satisfying aspects so far. I've really been relishing how he deftly turns their own attack energy back to them.
It's amazing. I have been relishing it to no end. He has a way of undoing the premise of the attack and thereby making them look foolish. He also has the blood pressure of a yogi so that must help!
Dr I can't believe it!! I had a conversation in the parking lot with a wise Aries recently and she asked me about his chart. She said she gets Sagittarius! Could be. You're the first ones, you and Lynn, who think this is right.
Your speculation is fascinating. The first house Saturn really makes sense to me. I thought he could be a Cap rising, but Saturn works even better. Still, the Scorp is a poss. He has a little of that swarthiness. The very very pronounced strength of his facial features is what I would start with. His sharply defined large lips, for example. The bone structure would be the Saturn in the first. He has a striking face.
The Libra also is interesting since he displays so much of this yet has no planets there.
I leaned a little toward the Scorpio chart for several reasons but Saturn in the first could be the depth, cautiousness, and seriousness that tone down the Sag. The campaign has purposely refrained from giving out the information which I find interesting. We all could have a lot of fun trying to figure it out.
The main attraction I have to Obama is my Pluto at 13 Leo on his Sun and my Saturn at 22 on his Uranus and NN. He is the epitome of what I'm seeking in terms of relationship to the audience. He's a master and I am looking forward to learning everything from him as I struggle to perfect my stage presence. He's so good. He stands there alone with just his body and voice and gives 75,000 people a moment to cherish. Gee. No props is my favorite thing about him. So natural. Generous.
I also have a Venus-Uranus conjunction in Gemini which goes for the unusual genius type and he fits that bill. Two of his IQ scores were revealed, 169 and 172, but the campaign doesn't want this to be common knowledge.
I've had a lifelong destiny with Leos since my Saturn-Pluto conjunction also falls in the 5th house. My partner was a genius artist who was talented in almost everything you can imagine and he was a quadruple Leo: Sun, Venus, Neptune, ASC at 13. There's a look in Obama's eyes that was the same one I often saw in my partner's. A certain slice of the eye revealing no nonsense cutting through and a contempt for the inferior fools in power that he had to share the planet with. And I love it. Plus, unfortunately for the two of them, a need to educate the fools, which doesn't work too well. It's fascinating to watch this unfold since the people are caught in their destiny and don't realize what's happening. So I feel that O and I are on a similar wavelength. All his Uranus and my 8 major aspects. But most specifically, the Leo points. It wouldn't be that important had I not chosen to focus almost entirely on my own conjunction in my life, so you can see the importance of the synastry. He's the kind of talent I love. The fact that he's about to be president of my country is a delicious side dish!
The truth is, the country shares my enthusiasm considering her North Node in Leo. The heart thing.
You're right dr, about the Pluto-Uranus, and here's the interesting thing. Michelle Obama is actually the one that fits. It could be why the country is so terrified of her. They're uncommonly focused on her even now.
She is major Capricorn-Aries, and she has Jupiter at 12, SN in Cap at 11. Sun and Mercury in Cap. She's an amazingly strong woman and she has karmic understanding of the political system. There's no doubt in my mind that they will govern together although she will perform her First Lady role in somewhat of the traditional way. People who meet her like her even more than Barack. They trust her and feel safe with her, and it's true that she is very protective. She's also loaded with Aquarius so it looks as though she could be the one to do the actual guiding of the people through that transit. She's enraged at the system, has had enough of it, wanting to go home to her NN in Cancer and her little cottage by the sea, but she has this task to accomplish first. Her Jupiter in Aries will provide the bravery in going against the Capricorn system. Already starting.
Daily Kos has scanned Obama's birth Certificate.

I appreciate your blog.
Gerry
Thanks Gerry!! The mystery is over.
LOL!
Consider the latest batch of crazy internet rumors debunked. And a bonus -- astrologers now have precise data upon which to work their calculations.
Says Kos, a notorious anti-astrologer.:-)
So the Scorpio MC is what I was picking up and Pluto in Virgo reinforces my theory of him working his skinny ass off. 6th house Sun. He is so ultra organized. In a departure from the norm (yet another one) he moved the DNC headquarters to Chicago to join with his, so they could be totally efficient, and of course under his Scorp control.
Saturn is positioned perfectly by transit headed to the top of his chart. Considering that and the packed 7th the VP pick looks interesting. Saturn hovering around his MC ruler, Pluto. Responsibility all the way around.
My theme before I study it in depth. The outsider coming in this lifetime. Saturn is exactly inconjunct his ASC on election day and opposite Uranus in the first. Neptune just turning direct on his ASC. He'll be peopled out by the time this is finished. Pluto in the 11th, as if all his Uranian stuff natally weren't enough. Future anyone? Much more later.
It always amazes me how often the children fit the 5th house ruler. His daughter Sasha is a Gemini.
I would have to say that The late Scorpio MC and the idea of a transformative government could become reality, coinciding with Pluto in Capricorn.
I see the chart discussion has changed since your original comment, with Gerry's Kos update... So is Saturn in his first as you wondered, jm?
As one with Saturn in the first house, I am qualified to say that Saturn lends enormous gravitas to the persona. It can be offputting to others. I can see this in him, somewhat. But this is what we need after 8 years of carousing, then almost 8 years of ineptitude, in our presidents.
I need an editor.
What I meant to say is we need some discipline after 8 years etc etc.
Yes, he does have the gravitas. He's an Aquarius rising co-ruled by Saturn. Saturn in Capricorn in his 12th, which is heavy karma and a responsibility of greater proportion than you can imagine. People like him don't know exactly why they feel such a heavy burden. Lifetimes of carrying them. This is his chance as much as ours to right some things. I'm intrigued by this placement and will go into it later. Saturn in the 12th is associated with confinement and punishment and I think this job is a confinement for him. Trying to lead this country is definitely punishment, so he's all set up in the correctional facility!
