The Working Man
The USA Presidential election continues to be extraordinary. The most outstanding aspect of the Vice Presidential announcement chart is the packed Virgo 10th house -- Saturn, Venus, and Mercury -- and Joe Biden's hard-working North Node in Virgo exactly conjunct the transiting Sun on the 3 Virgo Midheaven. Obama's natal Mars and Pluto are included. A practical earthy Moon in Taurus in the 7th house of partnership trines the Virgo stellium. The planets also cover USA Neptune in Virgo in the 9th so foreign relations are due for major repair. The Mercury-Venus conjunction of the announcement hits the 21 Virgo Saturn of the inauguration chart. Lots of kind words, geo-politically speaking. Couldn't be more perfect. Amazing.
One thing that this combo represents is potency. There is nothing more creatively powerful than the Leo-Scorpio square and Joe's Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Scorpio square Obama's Mercury, Sun, Uranus and North Node in Leo. Power, power, power. Republicans are not known for this. They usually have to bolster the image with weapons, sex, and sewer politics. They're in trouble. This is a very strong relationship. A working man's agreement. Put on your hard hats!

The picture looks very pretty, but the reality is very sad.
Reality always contains some sadness. Many feelings in every moment.
First Official Event
Downtown tonight the atmosphere was peaceful. People were all doing their own things in the hotels, restaurants, and bars, and on the pedestrian mall that runs through the center of the city. The usual chess players on the permanent concrete chess boards were there with their ever-present audience, and the train whistles blew in the freight yard. The Amtrak Zephyr from California was in due for Chicago. Street people and VIPs all together and the weather beautiful. The vibe has been like this from the start and I don't know if it will continue, but I hope so. Usually the feeling is set from the beginning. Everybody's cool. I had the great fortune to find a $1.50 beer on a rooftop patio overlooking the scene. Good music, too, believe it or not. Something's in the air.
Something's in the air, all right. I can't believe how good the choice of Biden is making me feel, and I wasn't in favor of him at all before.
It's incredible john. The choice is so good people are reeling from the energy. Another curve.
I've talked to everyone and the universal fear was lack of experience. They are so relieved. It couldn't have been an outsider. Impossible. And in the end it will be the best for the coming years.
Long ago when I saw Obama was going to win I got a flash image of him next to a white haired slender man. Then I saw him next to the young ones, like Edwards, and I got an uncomfortable feeling. People have to have confidence in their leadership and now they do. It's a fantastic ticket. I, too, am surprised at how good I feel, since Biden isn't personally for me but that doesn't matter. There's too much work to do.
I also saw them together in the Senate questioning of Patraeus and I thought it might happen. Obama asked a question which was evaded. "That's not what he asked!" snapped Biden. Yeah. Big general and all. It's going to be interesting.
Last night I was with some of the Pennsylvania delegates on their way to a reception at the library with Ed Rendell and Joe Biden. Were they ever psyched!! When it was planned no one knew so they must have had a blast.
I think the people feel like they're really a part of it all this time. The African American delegates? Well, I can't put it into words. I overheard a conversation in the hotel tonight where one guy said, "My father was a sharecropper". Lots of murmers and bubbles.
It's so exciting.
Hey jm I've been thinking of you doing the town with the Dem craziness and had to check in -- look forward to all your reports -- I think Biden is a good choice too....
xxx juju
Juju! There you are! The town is in a good mood overall lately and right now, it feels like it always does. Relaxed, live and let live. Of course the place is filled with dashing young policemen so things seem under control. The visitors are getting with the atmosphere and the great climate.
As much as people think the country is angry and desperate, I disagree. Just getting ready to try something different. The violence some expect and even hope for might not happen in the country at this time. I think we're developing a new kind of protest. Ritter and Hickenlooper symbolize where we are which isn't belligerent by any stretch of the imagination. I'm also feeling positive toward Mark Udall. Lots of possibility as the alternative energy industry gets going out here with my favorite neighbor, Brian Schweitzer in Montana.
We're so used to boom and bust it's pretty much more of the same. And our Venus at 29 Sagittarius is philosophical.
Biden's going to grow on people I think. And Obama. Well, he is rather odd. Personal preference there.
