Composure
The moon was in Capricorn on Obama's Saturn and Jupiter was in the vicinity too. Oddly, the moon also joined up with McCain's natal moon but, unfortunately, he has a pesky dilemma ... his south node in Cancer, a source of his whining, pleading, demanding, whimpering, and assorted immature behaviors as displayed throughout the election season thus far.
With Pluto nearing Capricorn, the time is suggesting, perhaps demanding, self-discipline and control. In my view, Obama expressed quite well what is required in this time of turmoil, even when his opponent deleted his identity by referring to him as "that one".. ? ... Isn't he "The One"? They can't get their message straight. That can be problematic in politics.
Here's what I learned watching the media-defying graph of the viewers' response. The women were much much more emotionally reactive, but the men were less susceptible to the political phoniness. The graph went down with every attempted joke (they were meek on both sides) and when McCain repeated many times that he "knows how to do it" they didn't believe him. They were unimpressed with his past record, and even unmoved by his previous confinement.
The line went off the graph for the longest time I'd ever seen when Obama spoke of health care. It dipped every time nuclear energy was mentioned, although the other alternatives sent it high. It went up on defense strength but also went up on talk of diplomacy. Energy was hot both in terms of economics and international relations.
The serious Capricorn moon dulled the response to all the joke-making but that also could have been a reaction to the hilarity of the recent campaign performance. Attacks were not appreciated. The coming Capricorn energy seems to be battling with the wildness of Sagittarius these closing days, as the tone tries to get sober and serious, then reverts to the excess for a few last thrills. Obama, however, is like cucumber.
The lessons of self-discipline are valuable and I think they apply beautifully to the current dilemma. Many people react with hatred toward Sarah Palin and the Drill Baby Drill crowd, but that's exactly the trap. It adds energy to the frenzy. Hate is something that's unhealthy when sustained. Too much love has its pitfalls too. No one knows what drives people to such frustration, and there's always a segment of society that behaves this way. They're part of the group. Moderated reaction helps.
Obama's composure is almost impossible to believe after one and a half relentless, brutal years on the trail. It's probably a quirk of nature. A rare gift and something to be prized in leadership. But for the rest of us hapless, hyper anatomonids, we can learn by osmosis. And with the help of Capricorn. We have a natal Pluto to bank on.

showed his ease and understanding of the plight of the American people and his dedication to the middle class and average Americans. He is geared toward them/us! He came across as serious about fixing our problems and bringing America up to 21st Century standards and getting rid of a lot of programs that just do not work anymore. He also showed his mindset toward dealing with other countries and how we are all in this together and we have to work together on a world scale to address our global and world problems. Barack was able to be calm and assuring because it comes from deep within his soul and it is authentic.
McCain Camp cannot talk about the economy because their Economics are for the Rich, the well-off and the well connected!
I only watched part of the show. I was shocked when B.O. talked so nonchalantly of going into Pakistan, if necessary, and killing Bin Laden. It was a very weird statement and McCain jumped on it. B. had the last word, but it was surreal to even hear one speak so casually of "taking them out."
Thanks for your viewpoint, jm. I aim my faith at Pluto in Capricorn (being Cappy myself).
My 81-year-old Mom watched some of the debate (I went off to a neutral coffeehouse for soul's safety) and she said it was plain that "Obama is the future -- he's the way things have to go. McCain, he's just old. Everybody's tired of these old men."
Yes, she has a lot of Aquarian and Aries energy in her chart. Love her to bits.

I read an article in AARP magazine yesterday morning interveiwing Brian Williams the newscaster. He commented on watching Barak Obama before a giving a speech or entering a debate. He said Obama is so serene, no pre speech jitters, no rehearsing, he just casually talks to people up until the last minute and then turns and walks toward the stage.
Jupiter's girl, he's been saying that for a long time.
I love your mother, too, yesh. It's good to hear from the wise ones. I've always liked that astro combo. I wonder what Indiana will do.
Fernmountain, it's astonishing. I've started working more diligently on self-confidence. Of course, a north node in Leo helps. Maybe next lifetime!
Self confidence is what most of us struggle with.
As a quadruple planet placement in people pleaser Libra, with Sag rising Venus in Sag as well...I have made great strides in this area during the Pluto in Sagittarius transit.
The most helpful to the process. for me. was resonance re-patterning. I was able to re rout a lot of neurological brain ruts and reptilian fight or flight responses. Releasing old negative patterns and beliefs. Quick, easy and painless.
As Popeye would say, (Is that a Popeye Phrase?)
"I am what I am"...and at long last, that is a good thing.
My mother used to say to me.."Don't hide your light under a bushel."
Though I don't really seek the limelight with my talents, the opportunities have bee there for sure....I am much more comfortable now with the talents I do have and the expression of them in the world.
What good stuff! I can feel the grace of your Libra. It's a great combination with Sag rising.
I was able to re rout a lot of neurological brain ruts and reptilian fight or flight responses.
I've been working on that specifically and this campaign is helping a great deal.
Yup. Popeye. One of my favs.
Your mother's right. I'm going to follow her advice.
Sagittarius, even though a people lover, is actually a confident overt power sign meant to take the lead in ways. I get exasperated with my own over-pleasing Libra planets, but they do provide elegance and refinement. We get fire ascendants for reasons and I think we develop the power as time goes on.
