It crossed my mind there may be someway to post some of your music here . . . not really my area of expertise but seems like with all the tunes available on the internet, there has to be a way!
neith, the jury is still out as to whether my voice will enter cyberspace. I might not really have a say in the matter, but I have a resistance to recorded music. It's not alive, especially CDs. The conversations, though are in real time and they have the same element as live musical performance, with the rat-a-tat-tat and live response. It does remain to be seen... I mean heard!
I have a tape by asrologer, Ed Steinbrecher, called Transforming Anger & Frustration: Mars in the Horoscope
He says something very interesting. That CDs have caused illness in society because of the digital factor. And music is vital to health. He says analog music is much preferred and remembered, while digital is resisted and forgotten by the brain. I know I don't listen to CDs myself. They are too empty, lifeless. I still prefer analog tapes or vinyl, so I tend to believe this. Not to say, however, that the pathways will change and adjust.
hmmmmm - since I seldom listen to the radio, tapes or CD's . . . only the music of Nature. Funny, I grew up in a household where my dad play sax & clarinet in a small group playing the Big Band music of the 40's. We all learned at least basic piano and I learned to play a variety of wood wind's. Sax, clarinet & flute. My brother played the trumpet & my sister's both played piano. My younger sister still plays @ church . . . we agree not discuss matters of religion . . . :-) But for some reason, I didn't get the habit of listening to music . . . I do know I have a good to excellent sense of pitch, and find people who sing off key REALLY annoying!!
now back to the costumes . . .and you thought I would forget about that! :-)
Oh no! I'm in trouble neith! But you're on to it. My Mars/Neptune has taken another convoluted route. What an I going to do? I never finish things. I need more lifetimes.
Music in you too! Not surprising.
This is fantastic, neith. This creative alliance. When my artist died, so did our work together, and I've been searching for genuine creative souls ever since. Who do it because they can't not do it.
Happy birthday jm! So cool you are a musician as well. I come from a long line of those who passionately, absolutely adore music but cannot, sadly play a lick, as my dad used to say, "I was five before I could even play on the linoleum..."
As for the cd vs vinyl debate, I prefer vinyl (my ex-libra-mate insisted on it!) but so much out there is not availible on vinyl and I would be missing out on a few masterpieces if I didn't allow cd music...
I use music a lot in my meditations, and am very eclectic in my tastes: although I find anymore that songs/groups which have vapid, almost meaningless lyrics drive me nuts after awhile, regardless of how good the music is.
Yes, costumes, please! Hear, hear!!!:)
Let's hear it for the birthday blogger!:) Take care, Juno
Rudolf Steiner, who studied and taught Theosophy and Anthroposophy, as well as Biodynamics and other extremely esoteric ideas, felt the same way about recorded music. He advised that people should avoid recordings and strive to make and listen to living music produced by living people.
I am a brilliant creation of the universe formed from the cosmic protoplasm sailing into eternity. I have two hands, two feet, a couple of great ears, and I'm clipping through life at a moderate pace; minding my p*s and q*s, crossing my t*s, dotting every i.

This is heaven.
Costumes WILL be forthcoming.

Juno! There you are! No to bubblegum, yes to philosophical lyrics.

OMG! I can't believe I've found you all. Joe, I am very interested in Steiner's theories. I didn't know about this. Thank you. It will influence me.
