Fear of Planets

"No one feels good about the astrological conditions on election day, nor the conditions on inauguration day. There is a shadow looming over the charts.
Barry C. Orr:
The Cosmically Stressed Election of 2008
This is an astrological prediction concerning the upcoming 2008 United States' presidential election, echoing a common theme among today's astrologers. The Saturn-Uranus opposition is the culprit most identified with the looming disaster.
But let's take a closer look, since we can safely assume that these human creatures' sizable fears are a projection of their own internal conflicts relative to authority. Many have discussed the dangerous government the people supposedly labor under, yet the idea that the planets will bring catastrophe is strikingly similar ... a view of a world controlled by predominately punishing powers. Perhaps Pluto in Sagittarius will clarify.

As children, people put puzzle pieces together with glee, then with one Zeus-like stroke, undo the formation with equal pleasure scattering the parts anywhere to create sublime disorder. As they grow older they graduate to jigsaw puzzles, taking time and great pains to organize the creations, reluctant to mess with them often leaving them on the construction table for ages, not to be disturbed. Rigidity mounts.
Saturn builds a logical structure, then Uranus comes along to turn it upside-down, inside-out, and into assorted weird variations, so that it can be re-arranged in Pisces, the chips falling where they will, the perfect disorganized organization. Such is the set-up for this election as the present order is broken up and rearranged.

Oppositions can be troublesome, or they can be fairly easy to balance, usually a combination of both. Sometimes conjunctions are the hardest since they involve two or more entities competing for the same space with no perspective or wiggle room. With oppositions, they can bounce back and forth and play with one another.
"Opposition can represent the fullness of a cycle.A time of choosing.
A reminder to make haste slowly, and determinedly proceed."

Kadimiros
I think this says it well. Every month it happens in the moon cycles. The full moon provides the perfect mirror when opposing forces are actually merged in a way, yet still separate, in a brief moment of extreme clarity and equality. So it will be on election day when Saturn opposes Uranus exactly to the minute.
In politics, Saturn and Uranus represent the established order opposing some kind of departure from the norm. It does not necessarily mean Liberal or Conservative in the usual sense, just a change from the model currently in use. The precise opposition probably means that the candidate we get will embody both. That the election and next presidency will bring reform within the existing system. How hard this blend is to bring into reality remains to be seen, while the struggle to create the balance continues to the election.
What interests me is the scenario unfolding before my very eyes. Obama is being divvied up and placed back into the status quo by some, now mixed with those who view him as an agent of change. A wondrous split in collective desire. So who will finally represent both so beautifully pinpointed by the transiting planets? This sort of union, if you will.
Here is a little quiz: which one of the following is most worthy of your fear?
A. Saturn
B. Uranus
C. Obama
D. All of the above
E. None of the above
F. One or two of the above

It never fails to fascinate me when people equate challenging aspects with trouble. What's so bad about the opposition day being exact to the minute on election day?
For example I've had interesting conversations about my Mars/Pluto opposition. Apparently I'm supposed to be some kind of a violent freak. I said 'well I could be--but I'm not.'

Things at the convention could be bad, but I feel like things have already been bad, so what the heck. I have great hopes for that day. Whatever we get, we're getting change. I'm up for it, whatever happens.

Kritusi, that's funny! One never knows.

Exactly, exactly, exactly.

Perfect Sagittarius rising thinking Chris. I've always said that Saggies don't care if experience is good or bad. It's all experience and they want more of it. I love the roll with the punches approach. What's so bad about good?

Every moment has challenging aspects mixed with good ones. That's the story. Notice how hardly anyone ever mentions trines? Like the one on election day. The "disasters" are sometimes the only way to get from here to there with important information for the traveler. Within a bad experience, some will still see the good. It's not like it's a conspiracy against the person for no reason. You can't escape through fear and it bleeds strength and enthusiasm. It would be fine if foresight bred preparation but it doesn't. This opposition is a golden opportunity for this country, and it will have good and bad moments. We're in and out of trouble all the way to the end. I'm in trouble all the time. I just try to relax when I can.:-)

So instead of making the future look grim some could try to undertand why they are so afraid and why they want to scare other people.

I grew up in a family of Mars-Plutos and they aren't violent. They're emotionally rough, but, hey!

It's pure logic. We're all here having coped with many bad experiences. So? What's the fuss? I consider these experiences a sort of cramping mechanism that helps us move through life. A digestive process.

The astrologers said that the last inauguration chart was hideous and terrible things were coming. I didn't notice anything extraordinary about these last four. At least the terror alerts stopped! I still have food.

I'm ready for anything.

No doubt, jeffrey. I think in a way there's a sense of relief that the thing is in motion. It's the roll of the dice. I'll take double fives.

Pretty good! I agree about the inauguration chart. It's quite spectacular and I'll go into it later.

Dan says about the inauguration: Americans feel they are able to reclaim their power, their honor and their freedom. This moment will be, and will need to be, remembered in the years to come.

The election:
a time when more voters than ever are disgusted with the arrogance of one political party, the spinelessness of the other and the lying of both, and define themselves as independents rather than party loyalists

I agree here too. That's what we're doing now as the Left fractures. It's all going to realign later, but the breakup is happening right now as Right moves Left and Left moves to who knows where? The rigid division is definitely due for a bust-up.

These friendly sextiles may even suggest that this year, serenity, dignity and class will work effects that decibels and bombast can't begin to match.

I always felt this was the case and now we are going through that conflict as the media looks worse and worse by the minute. Some are getting the message. They massacre of Obama is reaching hysterical pitch and they are failing. The end could be surprising.

A 180° opposition, however conflictive, always happens in complementary signs. The basis for concord is always present and available to those who seek the love in the scene in the outcome of unity, rather than the prolonged agony of habitual, fearful struggle.

Just what I said. I'm actually agreeing????

Excellent. As I've said many times I think this is an evolutionary moment and the election is actually a global one. I'm proceeding slowly on my theory but it's expression is forthcoming. I also feel that participation by the collective is well worth it this time around. There's going to be a pay-off.

The outcome for a country, as for an individual, is determined not by some iron law of cosmic influence, but by the water law of human feeling. We are responsible for what we get, as Americans will be responsible for a year that they do not suffer as passive victims, but create as the actors who write the outcome of their own play.

HALLELUJAH BROTHER!!!!
I love you Dan Furst.

Thank you so much yeshe!

December 2008 and January 2009, at the time Obama is forming his administration and getting ready for inauguration, Jupiter crosses Obama's natal Saturn in Capricorn and his Jupiter in Aquarius, thus bringing some happiness, productivity, successful and contentment to the interval between election and inauguration day.

I've been looking at this a lot, part of my theory about the reform within the system scheduled with so much Capricorn and Aquarius. Dan of course knows that Obama will win and he says something I agree with ... that the power won't be his at first. I think it will grow and he will come into it in the second term, probably getting a lot accomplished, especially when Saturn reaches his MC in Scorpio. Quite magnificent. He's gonna be a good one. Tons of conflict, but as you know, I don't worry about all that. It fuels the fire.

A possibility this election is that it will be a brand new experience with no horse race. It appears as though McCain has no chance and this is different which is part of why the adjustment is so confusing now. I think maybe the cosmos is asking us to get behind this man and think about serious government and our parts in it rather than following the predictable path to election as sports contest and presidents in the usual sense. I could be entirely mistaken, so we'll see. I do know that people are learning already and seeing things they haven't before, most of all about themselves.

Anyway, yesh, Pluto on your wild Mercury is opening up your optimism. It's fascinating to watch you go through the process. Of course, Saturn follows but the whole point in Sagittarius is to gather the faith and use it when realistic, sometimes depressing Capricorn shows up. Then you get that fullness of Jupiter and saturn together, which is the beauty of your Mercury-Saturn conjunction crossing signs the way it does. Very very nice and full of potential. Now is the time.

BTW, Pluto is opposite my 28 Uranus in Gemini in the 3rd ruling the 11th house of the collective. Have you noticed??? Speaking to the crowd anyone? And enjoying it? (Venus is there:-).

OMG, jm, you are going to love this

That, my zany friend, says it all. Moon conjunct Venus in the 5th. A lover.

It's so female. Yet traveling through male intellectual territory. Fascinating combo. The sensual, emotional moist nature of the Moon and Venus doesn't find it's customary expression in Aquarius so all kinds of strange things can happen. Attractions to vastly different types of people and experiences, all kinds of oddball things. Love of the unique. Sometimes brief encounters in strange places where whole novels can be enacted in an encounter. Alluring mix of intimacy and distance. Love of intellectual pursuit to no end, especially square Neptune in Scorpio. Too attached to the mother sometimes. Female role questions. To biologicalate or not to biologicalate.:-)

The path out of yourself from the hiding Sun, Merc, Saturn in the 4th. To creative expression for an audience. The path to enjoyment out of the possible oppressive nature of the early home. The block to ordinary expression can lead to advanced creativity. Feelings rerouted. Good mental telepathy with others.

There's tons to say about Venus in Aquarius alone.

You should enjoy an audience whenever possible. And of course, become the brilliant artist-intellectual you know you are.
Over time with the patient hand of Saturn in Capricorn, while all those deep feelings of the 4th house find words. A lot of self-love in this chart. Establishment of identity. Coming home to the self. Sun-Saturn in the 4th.

It's very very simple.
The planets are not electing the president. The people of the United States are.
