Taurus and Scorpio

Hunger and Thirst
Taurus refers to the neck where nourishment enters the body. Scorpio refers to the channels of elimination. Therefore, this polarity refers to gains and losses of substance.
Divine Astrologer: Marcia Moore & Mark Douglas

The throat is where the human first cries for what it needs. It demands substance in order to survive in the material realm. Appetites determine when these substances are drawn to the body. All that's taken into the throat must be eliminated.
In Taurus, the pleasures of swallowing are savored as personal sensation and if all goes well, satisfaction is a by-product of nourishment. If content with the substance, then in Scorpio where exchange is enacted, there is also an ability to feel compensated when releasing the product. I was thinking it could be a lack of initial satisfaction that propels humans to develop greed in interaction, which eventually can evolve into a complete inability to be satisfied. The shame associated with Plutonian activities also factors in. Discomfort increases. More acquisition results.
It's true that to perform the pro-creative acts of Scorpio an unusually strong desire must precede them so the hard to control nature of the Plutonian sign has its function. It also lends itself to self-mastery as some gain power over their desires, some transferring the dynamic creative force into other endeavors.
In connection with Taurus-Scorpio desire, the misuse of these energies leads to troubles with regard to objects people own or wish to make their own. The body is man's first possession and its loss is the final deprivation.
Divine Astrologer

It came to me that maybe the grasping and accumulation of objects of substance are in part a fear of loss associated with death. Could this be why there is such intense emotion accompanying the exchanges? Perhaps survival terrors accompany every transaction.
Most everyone encounters problems with these processes. People take in too much, they eliminate too little. The throat emissions turn to language and humans talk to much and take in too much information. They collect, they hoard, they steal, they hurl. Eventually they become dangerous billionaires or obnoxious nagging spouses. Screamers at children and failed national economies. All kinds of ailments can develop and everyone who has a throat, an anus, a Taurus, or a Scorpio is susceptible. The ongoing problem of substance. The balance of intake versus output. For every gain there's a loss and vice-versa. And who or what provides the nourishment? Ahhhh ..... a perplexing question I find. And is there ever enough?
Sometimes wealth cannot be counted in numbers. The United States with her south node in the 2nd house has a weakness on the elimination side. All the upcoming transits indicate that it's time to grapple with this axis, and that includes rich, poor, and everyone in between.
Pluto at 29 Sagittarius is a release point in the kinesthetic apparatus of Sagittarius, probably in order to make a muscular movement in consciousness with the information gained during the transit. Leaving the waste is part of the action. As the taxpayers swallow the loss, who knows what will appear at the other end?

Now that's an interesting stumper of a question.

It occurs to me that many, if not most, Americans who have enough to eat, eat too fast. They chew too little, swallow too quickly without tasting the food, and derive little enjoyment from the act. I'm guilty of it as well and try to avoid eating on the go because that makes it worse.

Likewise, there is the cultural shame, anxiety or discomfort associated with the other end, whether that's elimination or sex.

Indeed, much to chew on here. ;o)

I forgot to add, that's why "slow food" appeals to me because it deliberately goes against the prevailing current of fast food, instant gratification, etc. And it just tastes better because of the work that went into it, whether it was my work or someone else's.

Yup. That's our relationship with life, with breathing added. Too bad we're so uncomfortable taking it in. Except select Taureans I know.

I don't eat out with others anymore because it drives them too crazy. I take 5 times as long since I end up talking instead of eating. I'm a one thing at a time type. They're doing both at once and I'll tell you ... food flies.

I had the shame in the post and I deleted it! Thought I'd cover it later. I'll put in back in.:)

That's the amazing thing. Swallowing the loss means gain at the other end. A trillion dollar new government!

I want to shout from the mountaintop for the people to let go sometimes since I have SN in Scorpio and I'm familiar with loss. It's worth it! But you gotta really let it go. Lightness follows.

It's just money.:) Or is it? I'll never see it either way.

I came to this place looking for clarification on the final bit about mastery. Please, JM, tell me more.

All this running about, eating too quickly, etc. has got to be about fear. As Pluto enters Capricorn the focus moves to stripping away everything that does not shore up our purpose. It's painful to let go but I suppose you're saying that's our choice. It doesn't have to be. What's eliminated in the process is the fear that prevents us from BEING all that we are.

??

I believe this is the best description of Pluto through Capricorn I've heard yet.

Insulation. That's what all the consumption and acquisition do. The losses now are setting the country up, I think, for the stripping away of these defenses that keep people from that being you stated. The attempt to portray it as a crime against them is just such a defense too. We'll see. That's why the hatred of the wealthy is so absurd. They suffer the most probably. I've been painfully stripped many times until I saw once and for all the benefit of releasing.

It applies to each one personally and I'm going to meditate on my own chart and look at what needs to be stripped away.

The same applies to Pluto through Sagittarius as the false items of worship are stripped to reveal genuine faith.

Shoveling the food is almost an act of terror to the self as I observe life around me. It's an act of defense against life. The disconnect exacerbates the fear as they feel victimized by the government and don't see how they are undermining themselves. This perpetuates the authoritative acts that arouse fear. This bailout is one of the most fascinating things I've encountered. I see it as paying for something through sacrifice. The first step in stripping and mastering. The ideal would be to learn to see government as neither a punishing nor a rescuing entity. Just the bone structure of society. Logical support. We create our societies and governments. Pluto in Capricorn is a chance to control it. Some are perpetrating the fear that we are helpless but why would that be? The chance to rebuild the government is a chance of a lifetime. The person to help us do it is here. The rest is up to us. Consolidation of power will come on all levels.

I've seen the self-mastery in advanced Plutonian types who control their appetites consciously for spiritual gain. Taurus is appetite for pleasure and if we're comfortable with life, we take in just the right amount. Scorpio is known for overdoing probably just for that purpose. To learn self control. If we learned that, then trillions of dollars wouldn't be needed to fix things, making the public feel "stripped". I feel that elimination is the most pleasurable part of all. It brings freedom. Learning to cut losses is one of the greatest joys of life.

I often see Scorpios who give up sex when they have no interest in procreating, or at least admit they don't favor it, along with other indulgences that have no real purpose. I see sparseness in musicians and artists who seek a "stripped" down sensual experience.

It all makes so much sense to me with USA nodes, Pluto in Capricorn in the 2nd, and Pluto coming to oppose Venus. Wouldn't it be something if the fundamental purpose were revealed? And confrontation with the fantasy of oppression came? Fear reduced, food intake reduced, gas intake reduced, information strippd to knowledge and clear thinking. Oh what could be.:)

Waiting for deliverance is waiting for death, I think. Too long a wait. The agony of blame is one of the greatest defenses against stripping down to purpose and basic being.

Yes. Pluto in Capricorn. I shall see. The molecule of responsibility.

So the biggest problem with the financial situation presently is the people's blanket refusal to take partial responsibility. Until that happens there is no real fix.

Insult to injury.

The Alaska governor arrived in St. Louis today wearing a bandage on the injured hand and is expected to sport it during the vice presidential debate.

Palin will not be the only injured participant in tonight’s debate, as moderator Gwen Ifill broke her ankle Monday. Ifill visited Washington University, the site of tonight’s debate, in a wheelchair Wednesday.

I find this fascinating. Palin injured her hand - grasping and letting go. Ifill's foot, meaning mobility and direction. I wonder about the pity-sympathy factor with the injured women and what this is saying about the female in society.

The Moon and Venus are in Scorpio tonight indicating something about female power. Odd that Joe has all those Scorpio planets.

It comes back around to the upcoming Pluto opposite Venus transit and women in society. Pelosi has a Moon in Scorpio.

Methinks they'll have to throw away the wheelchairs as well as the insults.

Wow, awesome depth and insight for the Moon in Scorpio :)

I also had an idea, to check where Taurus is in my chart (and identify it as areas that I'd take in from) and then look at Scorpio (as areas where I release what I have taken in) and end up being transformed...

Start over... interesting...

I have far more Scorpio influence than Taurus... hmm...

That's a perfect way to do it. Find the axis in your chart, especially the houses.

A heavy Scorpio influence can also be traced to the Pluto position and that tells more about the path to release and transformation. The interesting thing is that Pluto is regenerative. So when you let go at this point, more energy comes and renews itself effortlessly. Once the individual becomes aware of this exchange she willingly lets go. The feeling of release is actually ecstatic, the sensation that Scorpio seeks. Clinging and clutching is agony, but both are needed to know.

People with Scorpio have known possession and this time around are relinquishing tangibles in lieu of another type of energy. I'm the opposite. I have NN in Taurus and I'm learning to grasp and enjoy substance. Things literally fall out of my hands because my grip isn't tight enough. Asceticism is related to Scorpio.

The answer to what needs to be released is written clearly in the charts. The Scorpio house, the 8th house, Pluto, and the aspects. Usually there are repeats to make it easy.

Because of Pluto in Capricorn, the release is intrinsic to achieving goals and getting to the root purpose. In a few years Saturn transits Scorpio for a doubling down.

For the country, that means material things. This first step is a shock but it should get easier.:)

Biden has a lot of feminine traits. Four planets in Scorpio and Jupiter in cancer. Add the SN in Pisces and the grand water trine reveals his highly emotional and empathetic nature.

Could we really be getting there? I knew the Scorpio Moon-Venus would be influential but this is a little unexpected.

Political equality for women will not come from the minimization or idealization of motherhood -- but rather from recognizing fatherhood as a significant factor in our culture and politics.

Thank you, Joe, for bringing us to the next level and keeping it real.

Time for a new kind of man.

A very well-written, insightful endorsement of Obama by the New Yorker. Definitely worth the read.

Biden did a good job. More people like him now that they've seen him.

I browsed the live blogging of the debate by college students for their take. They're a sharp, demanding audience, and wanted to hear a lot more about a lot more.

A complaint from Minnesota: "We're not looking for the candidates to relate to the heartland, we need Joe Biden and Sarah Palin to speak to issues across the generation gap."

A similar comment from Tennessee: "Comments about the 'average people' and the 'middle class' fell on ears that have been hardened to those words."

Oh neo thank you! I can't believe what's going on in this country of mine. The Biden moment is going to reverberate unbelievably. Many many harmonics. It's beyond votes. Can't wait to read about my guy.

The response in the polls is overwhelming to Biden, not only because of his reassuring nature and command of facts, but because of his humanity and that emotional moment is going to grow exponentially in the group consciousness. It overrides all the bullshit, all the clever words, all the bad jokes, all the pundit chatter, all the hate, all of it all.

The US Sun, ruling leadership, just progressed into Pisces and Mars is going retro by progression so it looks to be the moment for a gentler man. When the Moon and Venus get their transits women will evolve, too, and that's soon.

Joe has a SN in Pisces so he can deliver that information to the people of his country. They got their first lesson tonight.

Biden has looked into the eyes of hardship and is compelled to speak and act seriously.

Palin seems to be trying hard to appear cute and likable. A strong "you like me, come on, you do" vibe. I'm left with the impression of a cartoon character, two-dimensional.

"But her response -- well, her response was to not even acknowledge that this very authentic, very real man - a candidate with no veneer - had suffered through this and that it still hurt."

She missed an opportunity there. So there we have it: one candidate who is both moved and moving, intensely concerned about others here and in faraway places; and the other candidate who falls back on reprising her role as the popular girl, skating by on charm.

It was a little worse. The discussion of the executive power she craves was important and Biden explained the dangers of its abuse in clear terms.

She's not and never was a real candidate. It's part of the Neptunian fantasy around McCain's demise and our approach to realistic times. She's under the influence of Neptune now expressing the negatives while Biden expressed the compassion of his Pisces node.

It's part of the step we're taking with Uranus in Pisces opposing Saturn in Virgo. And of course, Joe's NN is in Virgo.

So she's an integral part of the whole picture doing exactly what she's supposed to be doing. Plus, she lost the Independent vote tonight. They couldn't stand it.

The psychosis that led to her nomination is still a little worrisome, though.

Joe's explanation was clear to me, but I wondered how many in the audience did not understand its import.

I was surprised that she tried to justify it. It made me wonder question her grasp of the issue.

Palin overreaches in trying to bluff her way. She'd have saved herself some embarassment if she didn't try to justify questionable things such as the Alaska foreign policy connection during her interview.

"She's under the influence of Neptune now expressing the negatives while Biden expressed the compassion of his Pisces node."

I wonder if she normally mangles her syntax.

"The psychosis that led to her nomination is still a little worrisome, though."

That too will pass, I believe.

Though I have some reservations about Islam, I love the observance of Ramadan, a month long fast from food or drink from dawn to dusk.

"Fasting is meant to teach the person patience, sacrifice and humility. Ramadan is a time to fast for the sake of God, and to offer more prayer than usual. During Ramadan Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds." Wikipedia

I heard on the radio today that a woman was so impressed with this Muslim observance that she joined together with others in fasting. The money they didn't spend on food was donated to alleviate world hunger. Beautiful! This woman is Jewish, by the way.

I was struck by Biden's story, wherein Mansfield advised him, "Joe, understand one thing. Everyone's sent here for a reason, because there's something in them that their folks like. Don't question their motive."

He was explaining his perspective on bipartisanship, but it also served to separate from gutter campaign tactics. Good move on several levels. Obama does well with the younger demographic, and Biden does well with the older demographic. If people trust Biden, then they trust the ticket.

Tonight it came through. He was born 60 miles from where I was so I really resonate with his character and language. I know him so well. Omg. All the Italian, Polish, and Irish Catholics that I grew up with. Family people. Totally unpretentious.

His face is always on the verge of rage or tears because he exposes his feelings so easily with the grand water trine. I am utterly fascinated with the synastry between the two candidates and I never tire of writing about them.:-)

Here's the deal. Joe is well liked in Congress and obama chose him as a valuable liaison between the executive branch and legislative. The bipartisan trend is real and the lack of negativity is the greatest development of all as we try to fix the damage. J will be able to help O get legislation through and a lot of it will have to be fixed. This week you can see how bad the partisan game is for the country.

Hillary and the crowd love Joe. Nancy's Moon in Scorpio also will jibe with his stellium. The old people adore him. The two of them have a good shot at being very popular leaders, something that will be needed to face the trouble ahead and make it easier for people to accept.

Tonight was an important step. It will probably reflect in the polls. Indies decided tonight according to the snap polls.

He plays well in much of the country, but many I think perceive him as kind of low key so they don't have big reactions. They're used to bombast and fire. As they are drawn in, they will probably slowly get to know him and like everyone else, start to feel the familial bond.

What's so fascinating about the two families is the twist in family values and who owns that issue. It's the democrats' all the way now.

Maybe as the country transitions to new times the people need to feel secure with these families. Watching kids grow up in the WH is always a pleasure for Americans.
