This is Hard to Believe

Right after my big speech about how much I hate weddings I got invited to one. It's tonight.
First they tried to hire me to play some Celtic music for the ceremony, but I said, "Naw, not my thing. You need flutes." I promised to play some funky dance music when the party really gets going. An all-nighter they say. Perfect for the Leo season.

They insisted I come and I can't help but assume they want my grand fire trine to make sure this thing gets off properly. For those of you new to astrology, fire signs are known for their joy, enthusiasm, spirit, excitement, expressiveness, and warmth. Aries is the kick-start, Leo is the heart and life of the celebration, and Sagittarius is the send-off into the universe. For people who get down in the dumps easily, being around fire signs is a good idea but it's a double edged sword. Sometimes the joy is far too much, like a hot day at the Indy 500. And I'll tell you, speaking of depressed. Nothing is more gloomy than Leos when they're down. That's one to avoid at all costs. Aries will keep it up, though. You can count on that.
So despite my narrow-minded prejudice, I decided to go. Anyone who gets married with the Moon in Aries, the Sun and Saturn in Leo, and Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius gets my vote. And they've been living together for 12 years. I refuse to get drunk. This sipping singer is going to enjoy herself in the slow and steady Taurean way. I hope.
It looks like a fiery match made in heaven. Only one thing perplexes me. Venus retrograde in Virgo. What do you think that means for a marriage?Oh well. Here comes the bride!

Have fun at the wedding! You are sooo right about Leos when they're down in the dumps. Guess who's a Leo? This girl! And I have a natal grand fire trine too!

Maybe the Venus retrograde in Virgo means that the couple won't be very good at housekeeping. Hah.

A Leo!!!!! Yes!

Chart eme? I'm so happy to have another Leo around. Juju is the other and you can tell she loves life and excitement.
I must know what you do with your grand fire trine.

I have vast experience with the Leo downside and I was helpless to raise his spirits in those moments. It never failed to amaze me how far down he went.

He was the life of the party and gave everything to the cause so I concluded that when he had nothing left he dipped into these moods for resuscitation. All the fire signs self immolate and have to renew. Often people are drawn to the fire, the flames get fanned with all the carrying-on, and they suffer from a kind of inner exhaustion I think.
Maybe fire Moons might have more resistance to this.

Fire sign leap upward away from the earth and I sometimes think they come crashing down only to feel the desire to get away from the pull again. I have no earth so I'm leaping constantly trying to get up and away from it all. To some higher realm.

A good choice of image. Garuda, detoxifier, bringer of heavenly nectar, king of the birds, identified with light and sometimes the Sun. Mount for Vishnu. Vishnu's name means "all prevading", "enters everywhere", suggesting freedom from restrictions.

The story goes that "when Garuda first burst forth from his egg, he appeared as a raging inferno equal to the cosmic conflagration that consumes the world at the end of every age. Frightened, the gods begged him for mercy. Garuda, hearing their plea, reduced himself in size and energy." So he can be accomodating to the capacity of those who receive him.

They've thought this through carefully and introspectively. :-) For Venus to retrograde in this time period is for Venus to move back towards a stimulating square with Mars. Mars will have moved from Taurus into Gemini by the time they square again.

I'm glad you noticed kad. The image coordinated in a gorgeous moment of harmony last night. I paused in trying to decide whether or not to post the details of the picture, but leave it to you to get it anyway..:-)

You're right. It was her decision and I tried to find out why she wanted to do it now. No definitive answer except, "He just wants me to be happy".

I can't help but think they have some new venture together that got finalized by this major event occuring with all the visionary fire.

What? Astrology? :-)
Something about the sexual/sensual aspect of the relationship. This is important to them. I met them in hot tub! Taurus to Gemini! Very friendly, they were.

I love this. Thank you. It does fit the fire trine. Message for me here.

I have had a strong identification with Vishnu in the last few years and have not fully comprehended why he came with such clarity. You know I used to love Krishna so this is intriguing.

Didn't know this part. Very interesting.

The central image in my living room is Balinese statue of Vishnu on Garuda about two feet tall. It lives on a small shelf on the wall and I have some precious stones and other special items around it. I have long felt it blesses my living space, enlivening, expansive, yet protective. When I was younger my friend and I used to bring it down and and handle it, gaze at its intricacy.

I'll email you my chart, JM. Just so you know who I am. ;)

What I do with my grand fire trine? Well, I can be really enthusiastic and the trine is connected to that Saturn/Sun square. The trine hits my 2nd, 5th and MC. Hmm. I bet I can make money with it but I never thought about it until now. Ha! I am very good at motivating others. I am also very restless physically and I just did a 2nd triathlon. I have an excellent birthday story to share with you, btw. (Yesterday was my birthday.) But I'll post about it later. I think it has to do with my Moon/Neptune trine bc I think I manifested it.

Oh, and the reason that Leo moods are so intractable is bc they're fixed signs, I think. It's also about ego a little bit as in: How dare you interfere with whatever mood I WANT to be in? Heh. It's just a theory!

Oh... I wasn't going to mention it, but the Vishnu on Garuda statue I currently have isn't the same one I used to have when I was younger, but it's in the same style, from the same town, Ubud, in Bali.

Just as an example of how things seem to line up around here, I just remembered that the one I currently have was purchased for my wedding!

I identify a lot with this. well said. I must renew my relationship with Vishnu. It will be interesting to see how he figures in tonight.

That says so much. How old were you?

I was 21 when I discovered Garuda, my friend was my college roommate. Then as now, Garuda occupied the central position in the living room. We lived out in the desert on the outskirts of Tucson. The living room was a huge cathedral room with windows high up that could only be manipulated with a long pole. Shafts of orange light from the desert sun would illuminate Garuda on his perch until he seemed to glow with an unbelievable radiance. We believed that it was magical and he spoke to us, but not in words. "There something about that statue" we would always say.

Notice I don't mention Vishnu. When the new statue took residence in my home, something wasn't right. Well, first of all, the statue was very particular about where it would sit, what could sit next to it etc. It told me it needed to be charged since it had sat so long in a box. After I got all that figured out it still didn't radiate like the other one did. I was confused, so I asked it what the problem was. It told me in no uncertain terms that the reason it wasn't working was because I was failing to recognize that Garuda had submitted to being the mount of Vishnu. It told me to honor that relationship. I had been ignoring Vishnu and focusing only on Garuda. After I realized this, it worked it's magic again, but not in exactly the same way that the previous statue had. For me, the previous statue had been about the unrestrained brilliance of Garuda. It was, for me, a feeling of masculine solar passion. This one projects power thru the relationship of Vishnu and Garuda.

Oh that's gorgeous. My Mercury in Cancer felt all of it as I read. I know that desert light. Oooh. I know this exactly.

This is utterly fascinating mpk. It took you a minute but the wait has been worth it. You mentioned magic awhile back and now I see how connected you are. To have this experience with a friend at that age is unusual. That got my attention. Your shared love of beauty. The humility.

For me, the previous statue had been about the unrestrained brilliance of Garuda. It was, for me, a feeling of masculine solar passion. This one projects power thru the relationship of Vishnu and Garuda.

Now it makes sense with the wedding. Little did I know as I innocently posted last night!

This also makes sense with my karma. The pleasure of your phrase, "Masculine solar passion" is great, and I realize the restraint in relationship that I stuggle with, along with my own restrictions. Oh this is illuminating.

This is a lot to think about. The juxtaposition of word and image that you express has made this resonate in ways I wouldn't have imagined. You have talent. Do you write? You mentioned being a magician-juggler.

You experience things like I do in that magical all-encompassing way. I think this, too, is the dilemma of Vishnu preserving and bringing the power of Garuda down to ride it. The fact that the original Garuda experience was shared with your friend was a sign of Vishnu's eventual presence. Male solar there with something else.

I am delighted.

Here is my story about manifesting:

Some weeks ago I got it into my head to buy a manual typewriter. I don’t know why. Anyway, they’re really hard to come by. I found an Hermes baby rocket on eBay but I was outbid and it went for $85. Then I told some people in my office and some of them did, in fact, have some manual typewriters but didn’t want to part with them. Okay, so yesterday morning, in other words on my birthday, one of my coworkers emailed me to let me know that she found one at a thrift store near the office. We went together during lunch and it was an Hermes 3000. It works beautifully, it just needs a new ribbon. And I bought it for under $50, tax included. You can click on the link to see what it looks like and how much it sells for. ANYHOW, the fact that I got it on my birthday made me very happy. Like the universe is telling me something, ya know? The next thing I would like to manifest is an affordable 1 Bedroom condo in my neighborhood. I’d like to buy an apartment. So, let’s see.

That is part of why I'm here. I will be a writer, but I can't yet say what I know. I've known I have to try create something from that interior knowledge for about 15 years. Since it is taking so long to learn the vocabulary, I have become quite patient.

Here in your blog I recognize the poetic "magical" language (which I have) wedded to the astrological (which I have not yet) which must be a part of the language of my work, if I'm ever to attempt it. The language in which you, jm, are already fluent. I am learning a great deal.

Mpk, you are exceptionally gifted with words. I find when I read your comments every word makes sense and I stay on one until the next. There is drama, anticipation, and mystery consistenly. Even the way you first came with your comment on power.

Most of the time I'm jumping trying to get over the awkward parts of the so-called expert writers and I do not enjoy the experience. The information is not worth it. I've almost stopped reading temporarily because I kknow the real talents are emerging and those are the ones I'm interested in.

If you have this gift, you will do well to develop it to the fullest. I'm a good judge of this, since I read like an artist, not so much for what the person is trying to prove, but how.

Since it is taking so long to learn the vocabulary, I have become quite patient.

This is the most important part. Part of why I know you have it.

Do you have a strong Saturn or Capricorn in your chart? Aquarius? Dominant moon, too, which writers must have.

You also seem to have built-in editing skills which could be due to your patience. This is crucial. There is a perfect blend of speed of thought and reserve in getting the right words that make for perfect writing and this can't be taught.

My favorite form of literature is the short story. I find these people to be the best. I especially love poetic prose, and you do this, probably naturally.

I'm not confident I know how to read even my own chart well yet.

Saturn is conjunct my natal sun. Moon in Aquarius. Sun in Gemini. Capricorn ascendant.

LOL!!!! Astrology!

This is fabulous, mpk. I got the Capricorn and Aquarius today, and felt extra Saturn was involved too, because of your style.

Gemini is verbal skills but without Saturn they normally can't be fulfilled as a writer. Sun-Saturn in Gemini couldn't be better.

Capricorn rising is the cautious approach to experience but once you're there, you're in. That takes time to master. the hesitation, even trepidation that can occur. Self consciousness. All to be used ultimately.

There is lots and lots of saturn involved which is both bad and good, of course. The saturn slows the verbal expression and can even halt it painfully at times, but in the end it makes for perfection. Usually some difficulty in communication with the father, or sometimes the reverse. A skilled father that the child feels intimidated by and hard-pressed to match. Or some other family member can represent this.

I don't know exactly why I got the Aquarius, so I'll ponder this. The Moon is harmonious with the Saturn. Good. Lots of repeats of the saturn Mercury. This is wonderful.

I'm not confident I know how to read even my own chart well yet.

You came to the right place. Anytime you want you can get your chart in the room.

Joe! You'll LOVE this!
