Soap Be It

You got to keep it clean
Oh yeah, you got to keep it clean
Everybody loves it
When it's good and clean.

'At times it appeared that the most menacing threats to the national well-being were bad breath, unpleasant body odors, pink toothbrush, and poor complexions. Out of delicacy it seems, even one's very best friends hesitated to mention such intimate afflictions. Fortunately for unwitting offenders, the producers and promoters of toiletries and cosmetics felt no such compunction and proclaimed the unmentionable, without reserve, to a nationwide audience.'

When I grew up--late 40s-early 50s--everybody took a bath & washed their hair on Saturday night... get all prettied up for Sunday-go-to-meetin'. The adult males hit the tub first, then the females, then the kids. We didn't notice if bath-time were particuarly unpleasant or not... I mean, we didn't seem to notice that the end water got pretty tepid & thick.

Everybody smelled the same unless you worked on the land as a field hand or farmer... we thot THEY smelled quite ripe. Yup... corpo smelled a profit in getting everybody into the new hygiene routine... daily showers, scented shampoos, underarm deodorants, & "You'll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent." It's gone a bit overboard now imo.

Heheh.

Breath fresheners. Could be the worst gossip, racist jokes, etc. coming from the cavernous orifice, but all is okay as long as the breath is minty.

One bath a week is very moderate. The Indians are extreme. They believe in redemption in a daily bath and get all worked up if people don't do it. Scent everything they can too although many outside of corporate providence.
