When a white buffalo was born on their ranch a few months ago, Dave and Val Heider managed to keep it secret for about two weeks. Dave even tried to convince a neighbor that the little white animal trotting with the shaggy herd in their pasture was a dog that had been adopted by a buffalo cow.
But when it leaked out, Val said, "Here we go again". For more than a decade, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims visited the Heider farm to see and pay homage to Miracle, a rare white buffalo who died in 2004 at age 10. The visitors included Indians from North America, Inuit from Canada, Aborigines from Australia, and Tibetan monks. For American Indians, in particular, Miracle was seen as the living embodiment of an ancient legend about the origins of sacred rites and the promise of a dawning era of peace and harmony. But when Miracle Second Chance was born on August 25, the crowds didn't appear. One reason is an outbreak of white pigmentation among the approximately 600,000 bison living in North America. In the past decade, at least two dozen white buffalo calves have been born. Why all the white buffalo? It's a bit of a mystery. "There's nothing to point to exactly why the white calves are showing up," said Gail Griffin, Vice-President of the National Bison Association. From The Rocky Mountain News, December 15, 2006

Just recently, in mid-November, a white buffalo was born at a Pennsylvania zoo.

Maybe the legend answers the question best? - White Buffalo and White Raven would return when man was ready to walk the path of harmony / beauty again.
I know everyone is looking at 12 21 2012 as the end of the Mayan calendar, the end of a great cycle.
Myself, i think we are passing trough the gate now.
That's wild about the birth in the zoo.
Myself, i think we are passing trough the gate now.
I have a tendency to think that too.
I know I am.
By 2012 we'll already be in the next turn of the wheel. Aries is the start so the ending will already have happened.
The Mayans were one of the most violent societies on earth. Sexual mutilation to the max and extreme intoxication. Blood letting was a daily ritual among all the men. Worse than you can imagine. I'd love to see the end of that.
I believe the peace and harmony might not be obvious. It will manifest individually and in small groups like this at first.
It's strange how powerful the impulse is for me now to stop fighting. Just for a minute at least. Desire is the root of the change.
Where everyone else is looking is not where it's happening. That's the best clue of all.
And how bout that name? "Miracle Second Chance"...Not Miracle II, or Miracle Junior.
This is when my faith in poeple is justified.
Where everyone else is looking is not where it's happening. That's the best clue of all.
How profoundly Uranian! :o)
And it's Uranus involved in this 2012 madness!
