Daily Bread

The mainstay of my life. One-half of a whole wheat pita and two thick slices of some artisan concoction, toasted, every day without fail, and my body continues successfully.

One of the things I've been doing since leaving my day job last fall is baking my own bread once a week. I use various combinations of whole wheat & rye flours with a dash of olive oil and light molasses. Went through a phase of using ground cardamon for awhile. So I'm a BIG fan of good daily bread! :-D

Joe's message about getting away from eating high fructose syrups hit home . . . Thanks, Joe!! :-)

Hej! my friends

Me too Neith, making my own bread that is.

When my favorite artisan bread disappeared locally,i began to make my own. In the past i made all of our bread then life got ahead of me and quality breads became available. The foundation of my breads come from a sponge i made from the water off of cooked potatoes and a bit of yeast. It isn't sour like sourdough but has some deep earth flavor that i find very satisfying.

It's true JM a couple of slices of good bread keep me running - the staff of life.

I am not really back yet- turns out that my computer problem was under a recall. Now i wait for my replacement. At least 30 days they say. Sigh. How did i ever get so attached to a machine?

THE story of my life.

Neith, I admire you and your ability to do so many little satisfying things, both for yourself and others. Baking bread is as ancient as it gets.

dash of olive oil and light molasses.

Interesting.

Life is way ahead of me now! I rejoiced when artisan breads hit the shelves. A good sign.

I use Blue Agave nectar for sweetener in coffee and tea. It burns very clean.
